Reimagining the Possible: Our Ongoing Collaboration with The Up Studio
By

Our partners at The Up Studio reflect on the energy, trust, and shared ambition that fuel some of our most innovative builds.

At Carbon, collaboration is at the heart of everything we build - and few partnerships capture that spirit better than our ongoing work with The Up Studio, a full-service architecture, interior, and brand design practice based in New York.

Together, we’re currently bringing five technically ambitious, design-driven projects to life. Among them is Project P113, where a floating, two-way concrete slab defines the home’s structure and sets a new benchmark for modern luxury. John Patrick Winberry, Architect and Partner at The Up Studio, describes the design as “one of our most progressive to date,” and emphasizes how Carbon has embraced the complexity with curiosity and precision.

A Meeting of Minds

In a recent conversation, John reflected on the shared philosophy that underpins our partnership: a mutual appreciation for concrete as both a design and performance material, and a shared tech-forward mindset that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.

As John puts it, “Our partnership is moving, it’s fast-paced, and we really love that. It’s almost all-encompassing - and that’s really exciting to us.” We couldn’t agree more. That momentum is the fuel behind our collaborative process and a key reason these projects continue to break new ground.

Innovation Through Collaboration

We also spoke with Jeffrey Ramirez, Brand Designer and Partner at The Up Studio, about the creative synergy that defines our partnership.

Jeff highlighted the trust and openness that come from working together over multiple projects: “When we bring Carbon into a project, we feel really comfortable because, as a service industry, so much of our work is about creating something deeply personal and custom - and Carbon has a great reputation for ensuring that.”

He also praised our shared appetite for innovation: willingness to test systems, explore emerging materials, and refine methods until performance, precision, and design sit in perfect alignment.

Clear Communication, Shared Vision

Both John and Jeff emphasised that communication is key to our success together. The scale and complexity of our projects mean they often span years, demanding seamless collaboration and absolute transparency at every stage. John noted how Carbon’s project management systems make critical information easily accessible, ensuring nothing gets lost in the process. Jeff described our partnership as “an open forum where innovation can really thrive” - and that level of trust and shared intent is what transforms great ideas into truly exceptional homes.

For us, working with The Up Studio is about more than executing a design - it’s about realising a shared vision of what the future of luxury living can be: innovative, resilient, and timeless.

If you’re seeking a builder who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and precision, we’d love to explore what’s possible together.
