About the project

A carefully reimagined lakeside home, rebuilt for light, flow, and everyday living.

Originally a series of disconnected rooms, Lakeshore has been transformed into a calm, cohesive interior that feels fully attuned to its setting. The renovation reworks the home’s primary living spaces to improve circulation, introduce daylight deep into the plan, and strengthen the visual connection to the lake beyond.

Vaulted ceilings, added skylights, and a clarified layout allow light to move freely through the space, while exposed timber beams bring warmth and rhythm overhead. Streamlined cabinetry, upgraded finishes, and a restrained material palette create a layered but uncluttered interior - one that feels open, grounded, and genuinely connected to its landscape.

Process

A transformation that exceeded expectations

For the homeowners, the impact of the renovation was immediate. Seeing the finishes revealed for the first time confirmed that the built result had gone beyond the original renderings. Close collaboration between architect and builder ensured the design intent was respected at every stage, with Carbon offering thoughtful guidance when needed. Clear timelines, daily site presence, and consistent communication allowed the family to plan their move with confidence, turning what could have been a disruptive renovation into a well-managed, positive experience.

Rebuilding the flow of the home

The core ambition of the project was to undo years of compartmentalised planning. Walls were removed, ceilings were vaulted, and skylights introduced to allow natural light from the rear of the house to reach the front living spaces. Within the newly opened volume, the kitchen and living areas are clearly defined without being divided. Cabinetry is carefully aligned throughout the space, anchored by a substantial central island that doubles as an informal dining table, creating clarity while preserving openness and ease of movement.

Project Testimonial

“As an architect, communication is everything, and Carbon excels at it. Their site management, preparation, and attention to detail mean the drawings are executed exactly as designed. Issues are identified early, questions are asked at the right time, and the process feels effortless. When Carbon is involved, I know the vision will be fulfilled without compromise.”

“Everything is just as good as the final product.”
