About the project

A grounded retreat reshaping an aging hillside home into a calm, contemporary sanctuary.

Set on a wooded ridge in Indian Hill, Redding, The Veil transforms a tired hillside residence into a refined modern retreat rooted in its landscape. The renovation opens the rear of the home around a sweeping radiused board-formed concrete wall - an architectural anchor and sculptural focal point that draws light and forest views deep into the living spaces.

Expanded volumes, extensive concrete detailing, and new spa amenities establish a relaxed rhythm between indoors and out. A reworked exterior and hot tub terrace carved into the hillside further embed the home in its setting. The result is a calm, considered sanctuary where concrete, light, and trees create a sense of stillness and permanence.
